HIKING

The
Mt. Hood National Forest is home to over one thousand miles
of hiking trails! Tour the local Cross Town Trail, historic
Glade Trail and our own trail network at Collins Lake Resort
and Mt. Hood Skibowl. On this page you will find a free map
for the hiking trails directly linked to Collins Lake Resort.
If you are interested in exploring further we have hiking books
fo sale at the Collins Lake Resort Headquarters. Also, members
of the Hiking Club have developed a series of hikes in the
area. On these hikes, members offer interpretive information
you would not normally find yourself. They identify plants,trees,
and animals, as well as lead you on alternative routs to viewpoints
and describe to you a slice of history in the area.

Ride up Mt. Hood Skibowl's Lower and Upper Bowl chairlifts
to two 5000 ft. plus peaks. Enjoy spectacular 360 degree views
of Mt. Hood and the surrounding area including Mt. St. Helens,
Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Rainier. Paid admission to
the Scenic Sky Chair Lift is required for this portion of the
trip. |

the reservation. Trips may be cancelled up to 48 hours before departure. After
48 hours the credit card will be charged for the balance due.

Welcome
to the Village of Government Camp – Recreational Trails Guide
1.
Optimator Hiking Trail-Moderately Difficult [3 Hours]
Hike through diverse forest enhanced by wildflowers and berries. Along
the way you will pass Hemlock and Cedar trees, a sub alpine meadow,
the progressive growth from the aftermath of a forest fire, and have
the option to climb Multorpor Mountain for memorable views.
2. Lake Road Trail-Easy [2 Hours]
Stroll down Mt. Hood Skibowl's beautiful Lake Road pat a wide variety
of trees and seasonal ponds.
3. Tom Dick Peak-Moderate [3 Hours includes time taken on chairlift]
Hike along Hanna Ridge to a 5065 ft peak with 360 degree views of the
Cascade Volcanoes.
4. Skibowl Peak to Wind Lake-Moderately Easy (3 Hours includes time
taken on chairlift)
From atop the 5027 ft peak of Mt. Hood Skibowl, hike through meadows
and marshland. View wildflowers, Lodgepole Pines, and wildlife on your
way to a hidden mountain lake.
5. Skibowl Peak to Mirror Lake Loop-Moderately Difficult [4
Hours]
A fantastic ridge line hike drops you down to Mirror Lake for the picture
perfect views of Mt. Hood and it's views.
6. Crosstown Trail to Zig Zag Falls-Difficult [5 Hours]
Hike along Government Camp’s trail network through diverse terrain.
Wildlife and wildflowers follow you to a fairytale waterfall.
7.Ramona Falls
Following the Sandy River, the trail looks upon Mt. Hood and ends at the 120-foot
falls which cascade down a staircase of columnar basalt.
8. Little Crater Lake
Amidst a wildflower meadow and resting neat the Pacific Crest Trail, this lake
is only 100-feet across and is amazingly clear.
9. Mirror Lake
Starting at Yocum Falls and climbing ever so gently to a private lake amongst
the forest and with spectacular views of Mt. Hood.
10. Tamanawas Falls
On the eastern side of Mt. Hood lies this 100-foot waterfall which has carved
out an amazing Cliffside for visitors to hike behind the curtain of water.
11. McNeil Point
For dramatic views of Mt. Hood from the western side, hike amongst alpine meadows
and craggy vistas.
12, Wildwood Recreation Site
For those with short legs, the Wetland Trail and the Stream Watch Loop are perfect.
