Welcome to Collins Lake Resort, your luxorious base camp for the Mt. Hood National Forest. There are endless opportunities and adventures, and we are here to help you find the perfect spots.
Hello, my name is Greg “chopper” Moreno, the Recreation Manager at Collins Lake Resort. I live near the Zig Zag River and spend the majority of my time in the Wilderness areas of the Mt. Hood National Forest. My favorite hobbies are backpacking, identifications, and learning as much as I can about the Northwest Territory. I have worked with kindergarteners and grade school children for ten years at the Friendly House Community Center in NW Portland. I have had the pleasure to meet a lot of great people and their families, and look forward to meeting you!
There is a great trail network running through the Collins Lake area, with access to the trail systems of the Mt. Hood National Forest. Please contact headquarters for any questions or direction to your explorations.
We offer a number of weekly hikes. You can join me in the mornings for a quicker pace one hour hike, a free interpretive tour around the Collins Lake area on the weekends, sunset and special event hikes scheduled throughout the summer, or you can just take me on private, guided interpretive hiking tour. LET’S GO!
O.K. kids, every Saturday at 7:00 p.m. you can get together at our Kids Club Social. There will be small projects, treats, and socializing for one hour leading up to our poolside movie. A weekly riddle will be written on where to find secret words hidden in the Collins Lake Area. If you memorize these words, and repeat them to Chopper, he will give you a small prize! Contact headquarters for details.
On behalf of myself and the recreation staff, Pete Donley and Ben Carter, we welcome you and are here to make your stay a memorable one.

See you on the trails,
Chopper
